Born in 1767 in Guiscard (Oise). He is considered a pupil of J.-L. David, worked as an engraver and lithographer, and is famous as a landscape painter. Together with Vivant-Denon, he produced designs for illustrations of Napoleon's Italian campaign. In connection with these, he spent considerable time in Italy. Afterwards, he created numerous drawings and engravings for A. de Laborde's major publication 'Description des Nouveaux Jardins de la France', published in Paris in 1808. Bourgeois died there in 1841.
