Carl Buchheister

1910-1911 studies commerce in Bremen; also attends the applied arts school. 1913-1914 studies at the educational institute of the Königliches Kunstgewerbemuseum, Berlin. 1921 friendship with Kurt Schwitters. 1926 first one-man show at the gallery 'Der Sturm', Berlin. 1928-1933 president of the artists' association 'die abstrakten Hannover'. 1931-1937 lives in Hildesheim. 1931-1936 member of the group 'Abstraction Création', 'Art non Figurative', Paris. 1938 moves to Hannover. 1951 solo exhibition at the Zimmergalerie Franck, Frankfurt am Main. From 1958 summer stays in Eméville and Paris. 1959 'documenta 2', Kassel.
