Giovanni Cambiaso (born in San Cipriano di Val Polcevera in 1495; died in Genoa in 1579): trained (under Antonio Semino?) in Genoa; commissioned from roughly 1540 onwards with several fresco decorations in Genoese palaces that were early on - along with altarpieces and chapel decorations - realised with the collaboration of his son Luca; in 1541 consul of the painters' guild arte dei pittori in Genoa.
