Self-taught artist. 1928 first solo exhibition in the Galerie Neumann-Nierendorf, Berlin. 1924 stay in Copenhagen. 1931 travels to Rome (Villa Romana Prize). 1943-1950 lives in Nabburg. 1944 visited by Georg Meistermann. 1946-1966 professor at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Munich. 1946 first exhibition at Günther Franke's, Munich. 1950 moves to Regensburg.
