Born in Prague in 1944. Studied at the fine arts academy in Prague from 1964 to 1967. Moved to Germany in 1969. Studied at the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 1970 to 1975 under Joseph Beuys and Gerhard Richter. 1979 founding of the 'Gruppe Normal' (with Jan Knap and Peter Angermann). From 1988 to 1991 lived and worked in Rome and Tuscany, in 1995-1996 in New York and East Hampton, and in 1996-1997 in The Hague and in Schlosstal in the Eifel. Since 2001 lives and works in Prague.
