Modern art at the Städel Museum offers a concentrated survey of some 150 years of European painting and sculpture supplemented by outstanding works of photography. Thanks to a collection encompassing key works of more recent art history by such artists as Manet, Renoir, Monet, Picasso, Marc, Kirchner or Beckmann, the chief focus lies on German and French painting. Numerous unexpected encounters outside the usual canon further enhance the world-renowned masterworks of Realism, Impressionism, Symbolism and Expressionism.
