Biography

Born in The Hague in 1757. Self-taught. Particular fondness of city views in the manner of Jan van der Heyden. Worked mainly as a draughtsman and watercolourist. Began studies at the University of Leiden in 1773; received his doctorate in 1781. Travelled to Belgium and Paris. Died in 1806, presumably in Utrecht.
