Biography

In the seventeenth century Guido Reni (1575-1642) was considered one of the most successful and celebrated European painters. His works were greatly sought after by prominent patrons from the nobility and the clergy. Reni's influence left its traces on European painting, especially on religious imagery, which he fundamentally changed and helped to shape through the Baroque era and beyond.
