About the Work

In this large-format drawing, Boucher used set pieces from an existing building to create a composition with the picturesque effect of a simple rural building overgrown by nature. The decorative intention of such an artificial, seemingly contemporary "Arcadia" is also reflected in the highly artificial, uniformly permeable drawing.
