About the Work

Galli Bibiena was among the most productive theatre and festival architects of his time. He moreover founded a dynasty of painters who also worked as architects. The monumental view of a richly decorated hall extending perspectivally into the depths is characteristic of this artist’s work. This drawing was presumably executed by one his followers. Two further versions of the motif are known as well.
