Here we see a miniature from a commissione dogale, a written appointment to office presented by the duke to the new office-holder following his election. Due to the fact that no text has survived along with the depiction, the exact office and the name of the dignitary are unknown. Whereas in the middle ground the official is being commended to the enthroned Saint Mark, the small medallions to the left and right as well as the spandrels outside the transverse oval depict scenes from the Old Testament Book of Job.
