About the Work
‘Window’ is the cast of an abstract form that could be a window. Like a photo, the concrete frame selects a section of reality and subjects it to observation. Isa Genzken makes use of industrial materials, which she sets up to draw the onlooker into a dialogue. It is on the strength its position as a ‘window’ through which the visitor looks into the exhibition space that the concrete frame actually becomes a window. The window is at once abstract and real – a Minimal Art object that gains its meaning from contents and associations.
