About the Work

Tübke was not an Expressionist. On the contrary, by way of their dynamic and colour alike, the abstract brushstrokes in this drawing serve to underscore the quiet absorption of the girl depicted in profile. The drawing develops its particular expressive force from the contrariety of the artistic techniques.
