About the Acquisition

The 'telefunken' installation, consisting of the elements 'static_12' and 'telefunken (frankfurt version)', was specially developed for the Städel in 2007 by Carsten Nicolai. It was a joint gift from the artist and the Galerie EIGEN + ART Leipzig/Berlin. The Galerie EIGEN + ART was formed in 1983 as an inofficial gallery project in Gerd Harry Lybke's private rooftop flat in Leipzig. Since its foundation it has worked continuously and sustainably with a fixed team of artists.
