About the Work

Tübke’s image of humankind ran contrary to contemporary taste—that is, socialist pathos on the one hand, the fashion world of the pop age on the other. These two somewhat obtuse women look like figures from an altogether different—bourgeois—world. They both have peaceful peacock feathers in hand; a skull lies on the ground to the left. The gold frame was chosen by the artist himself.
