The Städel Museum has the photographer, psychotherapist, and philanthropist Ulrike Crespo (1950–2019) to thank for one of the most important donations of the past years. Crespo bequeathed more than ninety paintings, drawings, and prints to the museum. Comprising important examples by Franz Marc, Otto Dix, Oskar Schlemmer, Max Ernst, Jean Dubuffet, Cy Twombly, and others, the ensemble reflects nearly a three-quarter century of international creative diversity. The works originally belonged to the far more extensive collection of Ulrike Crespo’s grandfather, the industrialist Karl Ströher (1890–1977). Here you can view all works in the bequest.
