1906 moves to Frankfurt am Main. 1917-1920 Städel School, Frankfurt am Main, landscape class with Andreas Egersdoerfer. From 1921 member of the 'Frankfurt Artists' Society'. 1939 major exhibition at the Frankfurt Kunstverein. 1944 loses his atelier. 1946 co-founder and director of the Union of Visual Artists (Berufsverband Bildender Künstler).
