The master's names refer to a group of characteristic drapery studies and a few designs for stained-glass rondels in Coburg. As a panel painter and draughtsman, he directed what was probably the most important Strasbourg painting workshop in the late fifteenth century. The largest surviving Late Gothic draughtsmanly oeuvre from north of the Alps from the period before Albrecht Dürer is attributed to the 'Master of the Drapery Studies'.
