Jacopo Negretti, called Palma Giovani (born in Venice between 1544 and 1548; died in Venice in 1628), presumably first trained under his father Antonio; was in Pesaro after 1564 at the invitation of Guidobaldo della Rovere, and from 1567 in Rome (until 1574?); after returning to Venice, he was involved in the restoration of the Doge's Palace after the fire of 1577. Subsequently engaged in the realisation with his workshop of a large number of commissions for paintings.
