1879 moves to Frankfurt am Main. 1890-1893 training as a porcelain painter. Instruction in painting in the evening school of the Kunstgewerbeverein. 1893-1899 studies at the Städel School under Hans Hasselhorst, Eugen Klimsch, and Wilhelm Trübner. 1897 study trip through Thuringia. 1905 stays at the artists' colony Wilhelmsbad, Hanau, with Ferdinand Balzer. 1905-1914 exhibits regularly in Frankfurt am Main and Wiesbaden. 1928-1929 teaches at Frankfurt's school for printing and applied arts, the Berufsschule für das Buch- und Kunstgewerbe.
