About the Work
The viewer is barking up the wrong tree if he thinks this is real nature. The three people on the footbridge appear to confirm what he believes to be water and woodland, but the image turns out to be a computer-generated painting. As if a PIN code were the only way to access the product, the title consists of a combination of numbers: '7127'. The truth of photography lies in making no pretence about the illusion. For almost thirty years, Jörg Sasse has been availing himself of his extensive archive of amateur photos. Before a tableau is produced, he uses the computer to return the subject to the state of a quickly recorded, blurred-looking impression. From such 'sketches', he then develops large-scale photos that look like paintings.
