About the Work
Jesdinsky’s seemingly cheerful formal language is derived from comic books and opens a perspective onto a pessimistic scenario regarding the future: stacked washing machines ceaselessly pump dirty water into the seascape; skyscrapers are literally on the verge of being submerged. Already at the end of the 1970s, Jesdinsky made a name for himself with graffiti painting. With his simple pictorial cosmos frequently derived from the animal world, he confronts intellectualised Concept Art with a legible but fantastical world which seems to have arisen from the realm of fable. Only a closer look reveals the ironical-critical aspect which issues a challenge to our (visual) habits, our everyday life.
