About the Work
Armin Boehm was not satisfied with the original, almost "Informel" work with its coarse surface structure. He therefore removed the paint using acetone in order to paint a completely new subject on the canvas: the satellite photo of a terrorist camp in the Middle East. The reference picture testifying to destruction and violence is lost in the dark, earthy painting, which swallows up every object and all light. The satellite photo by the American Air Force serves to destroy the camp it depicts. Boehm's pictorial copy thus no longer has a real-life counterpart. This fact demonstrates even more clearly the precarious relationship which links this painting to reality. Boehm looks with unadorned gaze at the contemporary event he has transformed into his material.
