Punitive tariffs and possible trade wars determine the current political affairs. The exchange of goods and money has always also gone hand in hand with power. Artists have long been concerned with the relationship between trading partners. They also turn their gaze to the trade centres of goods. Pictures of markets, stock exchanges and harbours show the hustle and bustle. Fish, horses, fruit or securities are traded – sometimes the gaze is distanced, watchful, sometimes critical.
