Tobias Rehberger was born in Esslingen am Neckar, Germany, in 1966. He studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main from 1987 to 1992, under Martin Kippenberger and others. Soon after completing his studies Rehberger was already a sought-after artist. He has exhibited internationally, is represented in important collections and has received numerous prizes. Since 2001 he has been a professor at the Städelschule. Rehberger took part in the Venice Biennale for the second time in 2009 and won the Golden Lion. He works with room-filling installations as well as smaller ones, and with objects and environments. In them the boundaries between art and design are often fluid. Rehberger lives and works in Frankfurt.
