Kunst nach 1945: Corinne Wasmuht
Im Rahmen der Städel-Filmreihe "Kunst nach 1945" stellt Corinne Wasmuht (geboren 1964 in Dortmund) ihr Werk "Barrier" (2008) im Städel Museum vor, das in den Gartenhallen des Museums ausgestellt ist. Die Künstlerin sammelt seit 1986 fotografische Vorlagen, die sie nach Motiven sortiert. Aus diesem Fundus montiert sie heute Collagen am Computer. Biography

Corinne Wasmuht was born in 1964 in Dortmund, but grew up in Argentina. At the age of nineteen she moved back to Germany to study at Düsseldorf’s art academy from 1983 to 1992 under Alfonso Hüppi. In 1991 Wasmuht received the Peter Mertes Stipend. The artist paints at most four pictures a year. In her paintings time and space are experienced anew; picture worlds, which are composed on a computer, overlap. She was awarded the ars viva prize for painting in 1996/1997, the August Macke Prize in 2011, and the Käthe-Kollwitz-Prize in 2014. She has been given solo exhibitions since 1994, for example in the Kunsthalle Bremen in 1999, the Neuer Aachener Kunstverein in 2001, the Kunstverein Hamburg in 2003, the Kunstraum Innsbruck in 2011, and the Friedrich Petzel Gallery in New York in 2012. Wasmuht has been a professor at Karlsruhe’s art school, the Staatliche Akademie der bildenden Künste, since 2006. She lives and works in Berlin and Karlsruhe.
