About the Work
Wood, metal and a divided panel door come together in this work by Reinhard Mucha. The origins of the materials remain visible; what is surprising, though, is their combined composition. They are piled up in dense layers. The work is composed like an architectural structure. Its appearance alternates between picture, object and item of furniture. The technical perfection of the execution is consciously emphasised. Mucha explores space and time with serial works and rigid forms. In its monumental form, the present work positions, as it were, the sculptural gesture in the foreground. From a formal point of view, the wall installation points towards Geometric Abstraction and offers a connecting factor to the Minimal art of the 1960s.
