Bernd Zimmer

Born in Planegg in 1948. Studied commerce and publishing in Munich from 1968 to 1970. Moved to Berlin in 1973. Studied philosophy and comparative religion at the Freie Universität Berlin from 1973 to 1979. 1975-1976 stayed in Mexico and the American south. 1976 to 1979 cook at the restaurant Exil in Berlin. 1977 co-founder of the Galerie am Moritzplatz. 1979 working sojourn in Kaltenberg, near Landsberg am Lech. 1979-1980 Karl Schmidt-Rottluff Stipend. 1982 artist in residence in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. 1982-1983 scholarship at the Villa Massimo, Rome. 1984 moved to Polling, Upper Bavaria, where he lives and works.
