Born in Jena in 1954. 1968 moved to Berlin. 1973 to 1977 studied law at the Freie Universität Berlin. 1977 moved to Hamburg. Since 1989 professor of painting at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg. Lives and works in Hamburg.
