Born in Krefeld in 1954. 1977 to 1982 studied at the Hochschule für bildende Künste, Hamburg, under Sigmar Polke. 2000 to 2009 professor at the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Lives and works in Switzerland.
